What a flaming shambles

Yesterday’s parade of the Olympic Torch of Human Right’s Abuses was marred by protest against China’s recent record in Tibet. The Guardian Newspaper have printed a cover article and posted 3 minutes of footage from the parade.

Has the influence of China really become so strong that not even the wearing of contrary political slogans on clothing is permitted in public spaces in the UK now? Pro-Tibetan protesters apparently has flags and T-shirts removed, and Police reportedly used the Terrorism Laws to threaten them with arrest. Surely this is a gross abuse of those laws? Anti-terror law is not intended to be used to prevent political protest is it? Where are the voices of outrage at the way the UK police dealt with this?

One of the pro-Chinese protesters (note that this person should be identified as “pro-China”, and not “pro-Olympics”, as it was a Chinese flag they were carrying, not an Olympic flag) is quoted as saying “The pro-Tibetan protesters kept shouting, so we shouted back. When you want to give an opinion, what should you do? Stay quiet? Of course not - in this country I am free to say what I want." (Interetsing to note that this chap didn't see the irony in his statement)

Free to say what you want? Apparently not if you support Tibetan independence.

@Safe Till Saint Patricks Day
The new Ministers Opinion is what has happened. His opinion that his church is not for the community, unless involving a christian activity.

Is what I think
